Shopping
Our residents go out shopping twice a week at local stores so that they may purchase needed items and maintain their independence.

Fishing Group
A great smaller group activity. Both men and women are encouraged to participate. Fishing poles, bait, and snacks are provided unless the resident prefers to bring their own!

New and Views
A discussion of current news events and/or upcoming campus activities. We encourage the residents to stay up-to-date on local and worldwide news which helps maintain one’s intellectual being.

Bingo
A resident favorite! We play bingo in a variety of styles, almost anything goes! We often hold holiday-themed bingo games. Winners have their choice of a variety of prizes or candy.

Spa Day
Especially for ladies! We offer makeup application, hairstyling, manicures, pedicures, and mini-massages.

Exercise Groups
The activity department encourages physical well-being for all of our residents at Heather Ridge. Participation in these programs can help improve bodily functions and self-esteem. We offer a wide array of physical activity such as music and movement, walking group, bowling, parachutes away, flexercise, and a weekly exercise group held at the North Canton YMCA.

Lunch Outings
Residents are able to chose where they would like to eat, whether it is locally or outside of the county. This encourages socialization and participation in the community outside of Heather Ridge.

Religious Activities
Religious and spiritual rituals often take on an added meaning as people age. In order to reach those needs, Heather Ridge offers a wide array of religious activities. Our on-staff pastor conducts Bible Study once a week in each house and meets individually with residents for prayer. A large group Bible Study is held once a week in the Activities Center, and we offer a formal, non-denominational Church service on Sundays. Rosary Group is held two times per month and volunteers bring Communion once a week for our Catholic residents. Catholic Mass is offered once a month by St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

Card Club
A variety of card games are offered. Residents choose what game they would like to play, either as a small group or one on one with our activities staff!

Garden Group
Residents help add to the beauty of our campus! We encourage residents to help plant and water our flowers and landscaping. Also, our Garden Courtyard in the Alzheimer’s homes features a wheelchair/walker accessible garden planted and maintained by our residents. Zucchini, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, and peppers are just a few of the crops our residents enjoy right from their own garden!

Senior Chefs
The smell of fresh baked goods stimulates the senses while individuals reminisce and share stories of favorite recipes and cooking for families! This helps the residents maintain a sense of importance and creates the opportunity for creative cooking.

Arts & Crafts
These are offered on a regular basis to promote creativity and hand and eye coordination. The residents are very proud of the crafts they have made and enjoy sharing projects with their family.

Entertainment, Themed and Holiday Parties
Parties occur on a regular basis at Heather Ridge! They may be based upon a monthly holiday or celebration. We also hold a Birthday party every month, as well as a wine and cheese party. Entertainers visit Heather Ridge several times a month to provide music for our residents. This encourages socialization and memories as residents sing along and dance to their favorite music.
